TUESDAY 2pm
MONDAY: SS&A Club boss Tim Levesque is on life support after falling from a staircase at The Albion Hotel onto his head early this morning.
The incident occurred about 12.50am.
Mr Levesque, 45, had been taken to Albury Hospital in a critical and unstable condition in intensive care.
He remains in critical condition this morning.
Mr Levesque had been one of the last people to leave the staff party after paying the bill.
Pub licensee Brendon Cooper said it had been a tragic accident.
“Our thoughts are with the family, the staff and the paramedics involved in this,” he said.
“It's heart-wrenching.
“It's a terrible thing.”
Police attended early this morning and are currently on scene.
The SS&A Club has released a statement saying they were saddened by the news.
“At this early stage our immediate concerns are with Tim's family and the staff of the SS&A Club.”
“The board and management are liaising closely with hospital staff for updates on Tim's condition.”
About 120 staff members had attended last night's event, which started at 7.30pm, in a private function room on the second floor of the venue.
Mr Levesque had paid the bill and was leaving with one other person when the incident occurred.
Bar staff and a security guard had also been at the venue and a group had been waiting for Mr Levesque at the front of the venue.
Mr Cooper said he had been fully co-operative with police.
“In 24 years this is the first time we've had such a serious thing as this,” he said.
"There's no sense or reason why it would happen.
“The licensing police will be seeing us today.”
There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fall.
It’s not known if the fall was captured by security cameras but police have taken copies of footage.
Part of the area is covered by cameras.
Mr Cooper said the stair railings were built to specification.
Police said Mr Levesque had fallen onto concrete.
“He was taken to Albury Base Hospital where he remains in a critical and unstable condition,” a statement said.
“A crime scene was established and police from Albury are conducting a full investigation.
“Early investigations suggest he may have fallen from the top of the staircase to the concrete floor below.”
The Albion will remain open today as several functions had already been booked in.
Mr Levesque had become the SS&A Club chief executive in 2010 after spending a decade as the boss of the Mulwala Water Ski Club.
