A grass fire broke out at the front of the Prune Street home about 4.15pm on Monday.
The blaze - which may have been deliberately lit - burnt through a hedge and there were fears it would spread to the home.
Albury Civic Fire Station captain John Vandeven said there had been concerns about possible occupants inside the house but a search revealed no-one was inside.
“Thanks to the quick work of the first arriving truck they were able to quickly extinguish it and stop it spreading to the house,” he said.
Firefighters from the Albury North Fire Station also attended after emergency services were alerted by a call to Triple-0.
“It’s a reminder that if you see smoke, call Triple-0 as soon as possible,” he said.
“If this fire had have been between other houses, it could have spread, which is a concern.”
Police are investigating. Anyone with information should call (02) 6023 9299.
