Despite reports in the Northern Territory that Tungatalum had been approached by Glenelg and Richmond’s VFL side, Raiders’ coach Daryn Cresswell said his trump card would be returning to Birallee Park within the next month.
“I spoke to ‘Rocco’ last week and he said he was definitely coming back,” Cresswell said.
“Glenelg showed some interest in him but I spoke to Glenelg and nothing has happened there.
“He should be here for our second practice match which is in early March.
“He’ll be back.”
Tungatalum set Wodonga Raiders alight with 55 goals in 17 matches in his debut season in the Ovens and Murray.
He is presently playing with Tiwi Bombers who are likely to miss the finals.
Bombers’ teammate Brad Palipuaminni will be returning to the Border with Tungatalum.
“It will be good to have them both,” Cresswell said.
“I think Rocco was keen to have someone come down with him so it’s worked out well.”
Wodonga Raiders have undergone a big turnover of players since the end of last season with Todd Bryant, Tyler Cornish, Jake Uslar, Luke Visser and Reece Corcoran coming on board.
They have replaced Jake Goldsmith, Matt Derrick, Duncan Proud, Sam and Matt Murray and Ben Murphy.
It is believed the Raiders are in the market for another tall forward.
Sam Murray has suffered a setback in his quest to break into the Sydney Swans line-up after recently undergoing minor surgery.
The Raiders will kick-off their practice matches against reigning premier Albury on February 27.
