Cr Henk van de Ven said was happy to discuss the option with fellow councillors and the public.
“It’s going to be a situation where we do need to have the community come along with it. We need to respect each other’s views, we need to respect each other’s points of view,” he said.
The council and indeed Cr van de Ven gave no consideration to the community when introducing the current unworkable rubbish collection system. In fact in his last media statement on the issue he chose not to comment at all.
Maybe a new aquatic centre is more attractive for him and his political aspirations.

Work left to community
WELL the job of the MPs across the country just got a whole lot easier. Don't do the work, let the community do it themselves.
That is the message coming out of the recent Indi Summit. "MP embraces greenie tag" (The Border Mail, January 28, 2016).
Clearly the community is being left to restore a viable train service that Cathy McGowan boasted she would achieve by Christmas 2013.

Recognition for an icon
FINALLY a fitting recognition of "Australia's greatest folk hero". (The Border Mail, January 28, 2016).
Pity this coverage didn't go into the Australia Day edition. Interesting what author, Eugenie Navarre says in her book, Ned – Knight in Aussie armour, about Kelly not being the villain that English history has made him out to be.
Ned Kelly is still possibly the number one figure on the list of Australia's great historical characters in our short history.
So why can't Albury City consider more carefully about a statue in QEII Square to this famous icon? The ground on the east side next to the police station would be the perfect spot.
It would be a much more appealing enhancement than the colourless and ugly giant sprouts the City Council considers a worthy addition to our public square.

Vlocity trains to Border
WELL done Tim Fischer for advocating VLocity trains for this Melbourne to Albury Line.
Regarding the buffet, surely V/Line with its workshops and tradesmen can convert one end of a carriage into a buffet/minibar.
Please, the current rolling stock is too old and prone to break downs.

Two good Samaritans
TWO young men, both 21, saw the need of washing the homeless people's clothes in 2014.
It started small.
The Brisbane boys fitted out a van with a generator and water tanks and two large washing machines and dryers.
Their charity, Orange Sky laundry now operates in 36 locations and washes 350 loads each week.
A simile to Jesus washing the feet of the disciples?
