The former North Albury junior was visiting his hometown for a two-day community camp with 25 of his Tigers teammates.

Despite outwardly appearing to be a walk-up start in the Richmond midfield, Miles said he still had work to do in order to cement his place in their best 22.

“I've still got a lot of development left to go,” he said. 

“Being able to watch guys like Trent Cotchin and Brett Deledio is great.

“I'll continue to learn from guys like that and our coaches.

“I'd like to think that my training standard have improved since I arrived at Richmond, and hopefully that's reflected in the way I'm playing.

“I think there's still a bit of upside for me.”

Miles had an almost immediate impact at the Tigers after being drafted as a rookie from Greater Western Sydney in 2014.

The now 23-year old played his first game in the yellow and back against North Melbourne in round 12 that year - and hasn't missed a beat since.

Now with a safe spot on the senior list, Miles said now was the time to explore his potential. 

“I still don't feel like I've solidified my spot in the Richmond 22,” he said.

“I'd love to be able to play every game, hopefully I can help us into a position where we can play some good finals footy this season.”

Miles' skipper Trent Cotchin was also planning to develop his game further - the 25-year old is entering his fourth season as club captain.

“There's certainly been plenty of lessons I've learned along the way and I'm not sure I'll stop learning to be honest,” he said.

“It's one of those things where each day has a different lesson in every little step that you take.

“I'm enjoying the captaincy, there's challenges but there's also a lot of rewards.

“Seeing the team succeed will be the biggest reward for me.”

After suffering three successive elimination final losses, Cotchin didn't hold back when asked what the Tigers needed to do to break their finals curse.

“You need to play four quarters of footy to win a game,” he said.

"In those finals, I don't think we would have played one single quarter.

“We know exactly what's expected, what's required, we just need to make sure we tick the boxes come game day.” 

Cotchin also threw his support behind coach Damien Hardwick, whose contract expires at the end of the 2016 season.

“'Dimma’ is a fantastic coach, he's been there for a long period of my career," he said.

“He's a great coach and a great person, and the reality of that it that it will take care of itself.”

More than 400 schoolchildren attended the superclinic conducted by Richmond at the Albury Sportsground on Tuesday afternoon.
