The Lecontes, captained by Kyabram’s David Starling, reeled in a five-game deficit in the final match of the day to claim a one-game win over the Mud Island team.
The happy captain said it was a great effort from his team, which has now won three A-Grade flags.
“It was pretty amazing, we didn’t think we were a chance.
“Down by five games, we weren’t looking too good.
“But the boys pulled it out in the end, we couldn’t believe it.”
The women’s A-Grade also came down to the wire, but the team from the Tandara tennis club were too good for the Swan Hill Engineers.
“It’s always a good week away, leaving nine kids at home between us and picking up a win is great,” team spokeswoman Michelle Balic said.
“We’ve won a few, in the last nine years we’ve won seven. It’s our week away and we book it well in advance.”
