Panthers fast bowler Ryan Brown (3-45) put Albury on the back foot from the outset, taking three early wickets as the visitors collapsed to 4-33.
Brown’s opening partner Jethro Menzies (3-32) then claimed the key wickets of Kade Brown and Alex Popko as Albury fell to 8-81.
Some late hitting from Jerim Hayes (30) pushed Albury’s total to 124 before Lavington finished the day at 4-95 with Brad Dalbosco (36 not out) continuing his strong form with the bat.
Albury would need to secure a mammoth victory against Wodonga and have Belvoir collapse against New City in the final round to secure an unlikely finals berth.
Lavington meets St Patrick’s in the final round in a match that will have massive ramifications for the make-up of the top six.
New City suffered a 97-run defeat at the hands of East Albury at Alexandra Park.
