That’s Wodonga coach Dean Harding’s message after the Bulldogs’ four-goal practice match win over the Roos at John Foord Oval.
Jay O’Donoghue was a standout for the Roos as they took to the field for the first time under Terry Burgess.
“Corowa has got some really good kids – they’ve got really good leg speed and certainly kept us on our toes,” Harding said.
“They’ll win games – I just hope it’s not against us in round 2.”
Co-captain Jack Russell, McKye Turner, Damien Jones and Tom Bowring (three goals) played well for the Bulldogs but it was the performance of 17-year-old ruckman Harry Pole that delighted Harding.
Pole has joined the Bulldogs from Upper Murray club Federal.
“He rucked all night and was terrific,” Harding said.
“He used to play under-16s and seniors on the same day in the Upper Murray so we knew he would have a crack.”
