THE wreckage of an ultralight plane, which claimed the lives of two Yarrawonga men, was being investigated by police on Sunday.

The aircraft crash-landed beside a tree about 200 metres shy of the runway at Yarrawonga Airport.
It was about 3.30pm when the red, white, yellow and black striped plane went down on the Cahills Road property.
A pilot and his passenger died in the accident.
Wangaratta and Yarrawonga police units were sent to the scene which was inspected by detectives.
Police spoke to people in and around nearby hangers as they worked to determine what caused the tragic landing.
It is understood the two men in the plane were experienced pilots and were well known to people at the Yarrawonga Aerodrome.
They were performing flight manoeuvres before the aircraft hit the ground.
Australian Transport Safety Bureau statistics showed the Australian-made “trike-style” open cabin aircraft were involved in more fatal accidents than any other category of aircraft, many involving the XT-912 Arrow.
On February 16 last year, a man in his 60s crashed as he was coming in to land at the Yarrawonga Airport.
The man suffered cuts and abrasions and was taken to Yarrawonga hospital.
