Michael's idea is a good one and players testing positive to drugs of any type should not be condoned.

But his call for Collingwood to penalise players shows a basic misunderstanding of the facts. The AFL only tells the clubs how many players tested positive, not the names of the players, under an agreement between the AFL and the AFL Players Association.

So Collingwood is unable to penalise the players, as they do not know which players have tested positive.

I HOPE for his sake, Alan Lappin has a better grasp of politics than he has of the environment but I suspect, unfortunately, that he has not (The Border Mail, March 31).

With the recent unusual heavy rains in central Queensland it was always going to be a poor duck season locally.

Ducks are migratory opportunists. As long as I can remember going back over seven decades and a long involvement with hunting and fishing locally, a wet Queensland season early in any year resulted in a mass evacuation of birds to the new sources of food up north.

This has always happened and there is nothing man can do can change it.

IT is no surprise there have been so few submissions for the $50 million swim centre.

Several years ago a submission was made to build a swim centre at the Lavington pool.

It was costed and did not cost much more than what they were spending on Albury pool.

This pool would be able to draw on all the schools in the area, so why would Albury Council not redevelop this pool? The schools are still there and the council owns the land. There are no schools in North Street. 

The Border Mail coverage on cryogenics (March 8) prompts me to wonder where some people’s brains are located in the body. 

If people are willing to pay $80,000 to have their corpse "put on ice" and be subjected to a mock Lazarus resurrection sometime in the future of advanced medicine, then they have more more money than sense. 

Is this new age of technology wonders also going to supply the soul needed to quicken the dead? Because it won't be possible to achieve this miracle without it.

Regarding  "Power of the pen in fight over climate", (The Border Mail, March 28)

In the words of Dr Roy Spencer PHD, the very fact that politicians and others use terms like climate change deniers means they really don’t understand the scientific debate anyway.

The climate always changes. The pertinent questions are: by how much? How much is due to human activities? Is it bad? And, can we do anything about it without killing millions in the process?

Given the fact that CO2 is necessary for life on Earth to exist, and there is so little of it in the atmosphere, for now I am going with the view that more CO2 in the atmosphere is a good thing, not a bad thing.
