Fifteen years since Adam Schneider terrorised Holbrook in the 2001 grand final with six goals to win the Des Kennedy Medal, the left-footer finds himself back in Osborne colours on Saturday.
Much like Daniel Cross at Albury, it’s something he’s always wanted to do.
“I have been wanting to get back to Osborne for so long for a kick,” he said.
So has the Osborne faithful.
Coach Matt Rava said the excitement had been building in the lead-up to the clash against Jindera.
“There is a fair bit of excitement around the club with Adam playing, especially with the younger brigade,” Rava said.
“The older blokes are looking forward to seeing him again as well.”
Schneider, who played 228 AFL games, will take Auskick and under-14 training on Friday night.
“I just want to give something back to country footy,” Schneider said.
Veteran ruckman Hayden Gleeson played alongside Schneider in the 2001 grand final and is still going strong.
“I think Hayden Gleeson is still playing in the seniors and a few others are in the reserves,”Schneider said .
“My brothers are supposed to be playing on Saturday as well.
“It will be a great day.”
Schneider has games pencilled in for Barellan and Coolamon in coming weeks.
