A development application from NSW Health Infrastructure, which would see an additional eight beds at Culcairn Hospital and Kiltearn House, will go before the Southern Joint Regional Planning Panel.
It would result in a total of seven inpatient beds, 16 residential aged care rooms, seven acute care bays, a community health facility and staff accommodation.
Greater Hume Shire general manager Steven Pinnuck said the building surrounding Kiltearn House would be knocked down in stages and rebuilt to modern standards.
“It will be fantastic,” he said.
“To have 21st century health facilities in Culcairn will be a real benefit for the community.
“If all goes well, we are hoping building will start towards the end of the year, around September we were looking at initially.”
The meeting will be held at Greater Hume Shire council offices from 3.30pm.
Culcairn Local Health Advisory Committee chairman David Gilmore encouraged community members to attend.
“This is open for the general public to come and see and hear the latest on where they are up to with regard to building and planning of the hospital,” he said.
Culcairn was one of 13 projects across NSW approved for funding.
The plans have been made public at www.jrpp.nsw.gov.au.
Anyone who wishes to register to speak before the panel, should call (02) 9228 2060 before 4pm Monday.
