The man crashed his Toyota sedan into a parked Commodore station wagon while travelling south along Jones Street in central Albury about 2.50am.
Albury police say the impact shunted the station wagon into a blue Commodore sedan, which was also parked on the side of the road.
A fire started because of the initial impact and spread across all three cars.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze but all three vehicles were destroyed.
The driver was taken to Albury Base hospital with shock.
He was issued a traffic infringement notice for negligent driving.
