The first posters had been barely plastered on the walls of MAMA when director Jacqui Hemsley was bombarded by Marilyn Monroe fans wanting a piece of the major Albury art exhibition.

With so many interested buyers, it was decided a silent auction would be held on the final night of the show, in an evening titled Bye Bye Baby, to sell off items the gallery bought in support of the exhibition.
“You can come to the gallery, fill out a docket, keep the docket, put down the price you want to pay and we'll get in contact with you after to see if you're successful or not,” Ms Hemsley said.
“Or come to the night and make sure you're there to put a bid in yourself.
“It will be an auction of all the exhibition furniture, Marilyn life-size models, the chairs, the posters and the banners on the street.”
Ms Hemsley said having an auction was ironically fitting given the majority of Monroe’s possessions were also auctioned off when she died since her estate was unclaimed.
Some of the items up for grabs at the Albury auction include a couch in the shape of lips valued at $1500, two glamour mirrors worth $300 and Jo DiMaggio inspired baseball chairs worth $500 each.
The farewell to the Monroe exhibition will be held on May 7 from 6pm in the MAMA foyer.
