More than 120 guests filled St Patrick’s Church in Albury on Saturday to witness the ceremony including friends from as far afield as London, Argentina, Sydney and Melbourne.
Television presenter and former swimming champion Giaan Rooney was one of the bridesmaids, while Ray Hass and Sarah-Jane D’Arcy formed the rest of the swimming contingent on the guest list.
Stoney, 26, who manages a Sass and Bide store in Sydney, was wearing a 1920s-style dress designed by new Melbourne label, Willow, and made her own floral headpiece.
She later changed into a short beaded, silver and gold Collette Dinnigan dress.
Her mother, Veronica, described the wedding as “beautiful”.
“The wedding was just beautiful and the reception was held under a large marquee in the Botanical Gardens,” she said.
“All the family on both sides were there and many of her friends flew in from London, Sydney and Melbourne for the big day.”
Stoney and Maconachie, 30, a lawyer, were engaged in August, 2006, and have been living together in a house they bought in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The couple have been on the Border since New Year’s Day.
The happy newlyweds will today leave for their honeymoon.
