The play is about Alison Reid – the daughter of the last curator at Beaumaris Zoo – and Beatrice McCullough, a trapper hunting the thylacine.
The captivating tale, the second in HotHouse Theatre’s 2016 season with a focus on animals and nature, draws comparisons with modern society and the environment.
“We want the story to be a reminder of how many local species there are currently on the brink of extinction,” says performer and co-creator Sarah Hamilton.
“Australia has the highest extinction rate in the world so it might be a story set in the ’30s but it still has relevance today."
