Wagga police stopped the grey utility in Blamey Street, Turvey Park, about 2.40pm.

The 30-year-old driver was sweating, shaking and acting evasively.

Enquiries revealed the number plates had been stolen from Albury on Tuesday.

The vehicle had been stolen from Blairgowrie in mid-March.

Police searched the utility and found a 20-centimetre hunting knife in the rear footwell, two glass ice pipes, a shotgun shell, rifle bullets and tools used to break into cars and homes.

The rear tray contained a large number of tools including drills and a drop saw.

Police also seized laptop computers, tablets, mobile phones, wallets and fishing equipment.

The Dandenong man was charged with 11 offences including possession of stolen property, theft offences, custody of a knife and ammunition possession. 

He is also wanted in Victoria.

The haul comes as Albury officers urge people to secure and lock their vehicles following ongoing issues with car break-ins. 

Inspector Ian Newman said thieves had been accessing vehicles, often by smashing windows, and stealing from them. 

“It's just a reminder for people not to leave valuables in their cars and to call police if they see anything suspicious,” he said. 

“It's been an ongoing issue and it seems to be isolated to North Albury and Lavington.”
