After a strong start to the season which has seen the side win its first match since July last last year and lose a number of close matches, coach Jim Wilson says it’s time to take the next step.
“It’s all well and good being competitive, which we’ve shown we are, but to gain respect you have to win games,” he said.
“Now is the time to capitalise on our good pre-season work and recruiting.
“Most of the squad wasn’t here for last season, I think last year’s season doesn’t reflect what this team is capable of.”
Young guns Steph Gorman and Mel Kirby return to the squad after state duties, easing the load on the likes of depth players Megan Kermond and Rebecca Guglielmino.
“We go seven or eight players deep with Steph and Mel back, and we saw last week players like Rebecca are capable of stepping up when they are required to,” Wilson said.
