FORECAST drenching rains did not arrive for many a week ago but up to 60mm is expected across the region this weekend and into Monday. A week ago a rain band broke and moved south as it approached the region, delivering good but patchy rain across the North East, with heavy falls south of the Murray. Dry-sown crops are already up and farmers have been busy finishing planting in anticipation of heavy dumps in coming days. There are concerns a big wet could keep machinery off paddocks.
