Kangaloola Wildlife Shelter secretary Chris Lehmann said he was called to 25 kangaroos in the past two months, many of which were found injured on the four-lane road.
All of the 25 native animals were hit by cars and subsequently died.
“The only way to lower that is for people to slow down and avoid driving at dusk and dawn,” Mr Lehmann said.
“Or be extra observant and cautious at those times.”
The shelter had its first “win” in months when a kangaroo, found at the base of the Lake Hume wall, was rescued on Sunday.
Mr Lehmann said it was the first kangaroo in months that had a chance of survival.
“It was a hell of a job to make the decision to go in and rescue it,” he said.
“Even though it was hard work, it was uplifting to know it had a chance.
“I haven’t seen the shelter this full in the last three years, we have so many animals.
“We brought in four on Sunday, it is packed to the rafters.
“There has been no rain so animals are on the move, they are coming down looking for feed.”
