Mount Hotham received its first drop of snow around 10am on Sunday morning with temperatures dropping below -1.6 degrees.
Mount Hotham resort officer Brenna Sharp said there was about two centimetres of snow on the ground by Sunday afternoon.
"We are one of the first resorts in Victoria to get snow which is really exciting," she said.
"We had a little bit at the end of the last year, but this has been the first official spot of snow for us in 2016,
"Unfortunately there isn't any more snow forecasted for this week but it has stuck around on the ground until Monday"

Monday morning temperatures at Mount Hotham were still at -1.9 degrees.
The rest of the week forecasts for strong winds and showers with minimum temperatures above zero.
The official winter snow season opens at Mount Hotham on June 11.
"It is a good sign as it was a warm May, it was questionable if we were going to have a late start to the season,” Ms Sharp said.
There was sprinkling of snow also spotted at nearby Falls Creek resort on Sunday where temperatures dropped as low as -2.1 degrees on Monday.
