Students from Riverina Martial Arts in Wodonga have brought back two Victorian titles from this year’s Kyokushin Karate Championships in Melbourne.

Mateo Hanley, 6, and Cooper Grantham, 8, won their age divisions while Kayden Grantham, 10, came third in his and Dale Martin was a runner-up in the full contact intermediate middleweight class.
Sensei Dale Martin said the dojo took down nine fighters to compete at the tournament which drew more than 100 particpants.
“Seeing them (students) stepping onto the mat alone is a proud moment,” he said.
“We go down every year and always come home with a swag of medals.”
The dojo will now prepare for the national titles in Sydney in August followed by the Riverina Championships in Griffith in October.
Riverina Martial Arts has more than 30 students and train on Mondays and Thursdays.
