NORTH East wineries wrapped up an exceptional grape harvest this year, weeks out from the Rutherglen Winery Walkabout on June 11 and 12.

Apex Club of Rutherglen spokesman Mark Donaldson said the harvest boded well for the popular Grape Treading Competition, which was part of the Country Fair on June 12
“The 2016 grape harvest has been exceptional for the local winemakers, meaning the grapes are bigger and more plentiful,” he said.
The first Media Grape Tread will be held at 1pm with the pollies event at 2pm.
Festival-goers can taste the new release wines at the 18 participating wineries.
Rutherglen Wine and Tourism executive officer Natalie Ajay said tickets have sold at a record rate.
“We’ve sold more than 7500 tickets and registered more than 360 private buses, which means we’re well and truly on our way to a sell-out event,” she said.
General admission ticket includes a tasting glass and wristband.
