The undefeated Bushrangers have been forced to make four changes for Saturday’s clash against perennial TAC Cup powerhouse Calder Cannons, with Wallace, Jayden Gallagher (ankle), Harry Morrison (back) and Will Brodie (school football) dropping out of the side that drew with Sandringham.
North Albury’s Alex Paech comes into the team, along with Chris Welsh, Ryan Kilpatrick and Billy Cooper.
With Max Lynch, Fletcher Carroll, Zach Sproule and Charlie Spargo still three weeks away with NSW-ACT commitments, Bushies coach Leon Higgins said the injuries provided opportunities for the rest of his squad.
“Whilst it is always disappointing to suffer injuries and our medical and rehabilitation team are quite busy at the moment, it does provide a number of players with an opportunity to make their mark,” he said.
“We have been particularly impressed with our midfield depth this year with players such as Mason Marr, Ben Paton and Nick Richards all playing crucial roles through the middle of ground.
“Alex has been limited to one TAC Cup game so far this year and we are looking forward to giving him some continuity at this level, he is very powerful, competes hard and has enormous talent which combined with a great work ethic ensures he will improve with every game he plays.
“Calder are very hard to beat on their home ground, but our boys are a tight group and the spirit they demonstrated in the final stages of last week game will give them enormous confidence in each other.”
Saturday’s match in Craigieburn starts at 1pm.
