The 40-point win on Saturday was the third game out of four in a tough series for the Demons.
The Milawa team played Glenrowan and Tarrawingee before Bright and travel to play an improved Bonnie Doon side next round.
Milawa co-coach Luke O'Keefe said it was pleasing to get the points against Bright.
“We identified this month as being a tough one for us,” he said.
“We need to try come out of the month three and one I suppose.”
Demons half-back Bryce Mortimer played his best game of the season, according to O’Keefe, in the 14.19 (103) 9.9 (63) win.
The defender had a big pre-season which has reflected well on his recent form.
Dylan Pritchard snagged three goals for the Demons while Jack Stamp, Sam Bowers, Mark Scholte and Tim Lewis got two each.
