The hall has been at the centre of debate over the past month after Berrigan Council unveiled demolition plans which would see the building replaced with parkland and the nearby School of Arts building upgraded.
Feedback on the proposal closed last week with the Save the Finley War Memorial Hall Association saying it had amassed 1400 signatures through petitions and pro forma letters.
The council's director corporate services Matt Hansen said submissions and web poll results would be presented to the shire's June 15 meeting for a decision.
“I don't think there will be a recommendation one way or another,” Mr Hansen said.
“I think the report will be written along the lines of saying this is the feedback we have received and the councillors will need to make a decision on their own personal views.”
Mr Hansen said a town meeting on May 11 had generated a strong response but it was apparent there were diverse opinions on the hall.
“It's one of those issues that has been divisive,” Mr Hansen said.
“People have been passionately for or passionately against but there's a middle view where people haven't engaged or because it's become emotional they've decided to sit it out.”
Save the Finley War Memorial Hall Association secretary Patricia Boyd said landing 1400 signatories was “very pleasing when the adult population in town is only 1140”.
The association's president John Taylor was disappointed in the shire's approach.
“I think that the processes for community consultation can be improved,” Mr Taylor said.
“You get the best results where projects are community driven with assistance of the council and where they work together – not where council comes along and says ‘this is what we're going to do’.”
Mr Taylor said he had considered standing for council in September's election but was undecided.
