Congratulations to the Berrigan Shire Council mayor, councillors, the staff and also the Berrigan Shire community on achieving such a result. After many unnecessary months of wasted time and ratepayer money, our efforts have paid off.
We can all be proud and secure in the knowledge that we have a great team at the helm at the Berrigan Shire Council.
VIV MCGEE, Berrigan
Public apology to Jasper
I SUGGEST to Indi Liberal Party senior member Tony Schneider that he take lessons in how to make friends and influence people, in publicly saying that it was “pretty disgraceful really” for National Party member Ken Jasper to support Cathy McGowan's independent campaign at the last election.
As a member of the Victorian Parliament for many years, and as a citizen, Mr Jasper always presented as a man of integrity and I am angry that such an attack be made on his character.
Mr Schneider needs to apologise publicly to Mr Jasper. His comments have guaranteed that the Liberal Party candidate will not be preferenced by many National Party supporters in spite of the Coalition agreement. Conscience comes before party! Who and what Mr Jasper supports is his own business and not the business of the Liberal Party.

Thanks for your help
THIS is a letter of thanks to the three hospitals who looked after me after a fall.
To the Albury Base who put me back together again after an operation with tender loving care for a fortnight. To the wonderful Culcairn hospital and all who worked there – nurses, kitchen staff, cleaners and office workers.
I was there for three months and felt I became part of the family. How kind they all were. And last but not least, Wodonga Rehab, to the nurses and physios for their patience and help in getting me back home after four long months.
Thank you also to Dr Reddy, Dr Das and the lovely Nadia. A final thank you to Iris, my room mate and her wonderful family for making me part of their own. I am still getting back on my feet, thanks to all above.
MARIE SEULLIN, North Albury
Questions for candidate
AS a long-term ALP voter, I would like Bill Shorten for Prime Minister but we have to vote for a candidate in our electorate.
Recently the ALP candidate Eric Kerr spoke publicly about ALP policies and then Darren Cameron from the Albury ALP quibbled over whether Mr Kerr should have presumed to represent NSW ALP voters.
Perhaps the newly endorsed candidate for ALP Farrer (Christian Kunde) would be kind enough to offer information on how he sees policies connected with: Patients attending the Women's Health Clinic in Engelhardt Street being treated with dignity and respect and not harassed; the plight and heartache of refugees seeking to settle in Australia; the opening of the marriage law to be more inclusive; the primary concern we all have for the environment, now and in the future; jobs and unemployment along with fair pay rates, federal funding for education and schools and fair policies for agricultural industries and water policies.
