Striker Zac Walker said the club was able to put a poor fortnight behind them in the 3-0 loss.

“It was never going to be an easy game for us,” he said.

“But the way we played on Wednesday night, if we can do it more often results will start to come our way.”

Walker said defensive cohesion was the key to the improved performance.

“Tactically we were much better in defence,” he said.

“Our objective was to stay solid and frustrate them, I think we did that fairly well.

“To hold a team like Bentleigh to three goals is a massive credit to the team.”

On the road against Dandenong City this Saturday, Walker said United were primed for a strong performance.

“Wednesday night showed that we're in this together,” he said.

“It could be the start of something new for us.”
