Manion badly broke his nose for the second time this season against Griffith last weekend and is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the year.
“Manion looks like he’s gone for the season,” Raynes said.
“With his nose the way it is, he’s got to get himself back to full health.
“Matt played quite well in the second-half last week.
“He’s more of a traditional five-eighth.
“He’s not as attacking as Ritchie but more of a big boot who likes to control the game.”
The Steamers, who have one win, a draw and five losses this season, face another tough encounter against Tumut at Tumut on Saturday.
Raynes said it was important his team learnt from last weekend’s narrow loss to Griffith.
“We were leading at half-time quite well but we didn’t counter the change in their game plan,” he said.
“We’ll live and learn.
“Tumut’s forwards are big and strong and its inside backs control the game well.”
