Ovens Valley MLA Tim McCurdy said the Victorian Regional Network Development Plan offered little to train users on the North-East line.
He said the target to deliver services five days a week would be a minor win.
“There are already four services to Melbourne a day and a coach from Albury-Wodonga to Wangaratta once a day,” Mr McCurdy said.
“This city-centric Labor government needs to realise that the North-East rail line extends well beyond Seymour.”
Indi MP Cathy McGowan said the plan left many unanswered questions, especially around occasions where buses replaced trains.
“It’s still not good enough and I call on the state government to adequately resource this plan to address these issues,” she said. “Improving the train service is urgent and must be given a higher priority in this strategy.”
