The 21-year-old’s sentence was also for threats to “slit throats” made to his brother’s girlfriend three weeks later.
Wishart’s attack on the man, with a co-accused who twice smashed a bottle over the victim’s head, has resulted in a 14-month jail term.
He will remain behind bars for six months before becoming eligible for parole, having pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others.
The North Albury man, known for his “lengthy criminal history”, pleaded guilty also over the intimidation of the woman.
Magistrate Tony Murray was told in police facts how the victim of the assault rode his motorcycle to a Wagga Road house on March 17 about 11pm.
He was planning on visiting his ex-partner and their daughter.
The woman stepped outside to greet him as he parked his bike, just as Wishart and the other man were walking along a nearby driveway.
Wishart jumped a one-metre high metal fence, grabbed the victim with both his hands and punched him several times.
The woman then watched as the other man also jumped the fence, running up to the victim to hit his head with a 750ml glass bottle.
The victim swore then told Wishart “what have I done? I don’t know who you are”.
At one point the woman called out to her daughter “they’re gonna kill your dad”.
I’m going to cut your dogs’ throats and your families.

The daughter grabbed the defendant with both hands, pulled him off her father and slammed him into a nearby fence.
The victim suffered a deep cut.
Police said Wishart was on bail for the assault when he rang his brother’s 30-year-old girlfriend on April 6 about 7pm.
He launched into an aggressive tirade of abuse.
“You are all dogs and you are putrid and a dead dog and I’m going to jump on your heads,” he said.
That was followed by: “I’m going to cut your dogs’ throats and your families.”
