The CDHBU coach has watched the 16-year old forward impress at NEAFL level after being plucked from the Hume League by the GWS Giants.
“They’ve clearly seen something in him, and I would have too,” Payne said.
“He’s a very level headed player for someone so young.
“As a 16-year old he cops one of the opposition’s best defenders each week.
“He’s smart in the way he goes about it too, plays off his man and can take a great pack mark.”
Walker booted a goal his second NEAFL game of the season against the Aspley Hornets last weekend.

Playing alongside established Giants stars like Will Hoskin-Elliot, Payne said Walker’s improvement was plain to see.
“He played a little bit of senior footy for us last season, but you can really see him growing in confidence this season,” he said.
“I spoke to him after he played in Sydney a couple of weeks ago, he said it was a bit surreal playing alongside top 10 draft picks and AFL players.”
