The home side got off to the perfect start at Glen Park, scoring in the first minute.
Despite missing a penalty, Boomers led 2-1 at half time from Frazer Trezise goals.
After another quick goal from a Dustin Patten header in the first two minutes of the second half, the team managed to maintain the buffer until the final whistle.
Peter Noordewier kicked the final goal.
Albury United tried gallantly to pull back the margin, but the players’ desperation only turned into a series of fouls against their opponents.
Boomers coach Steve Hayes said although his side went into the match six points behind United, he was confident of a good result.
“I thought we did quite well,” he said.
“There hasn’t been a side that we haven’t been competitive with all year.”
The coach said the team’s poor finishing meant it had to settle for draws rather than more wins earlier in season.
“We create that many chances every week, but we don’t always put them away,” he said.
Boomers remained in fifth on the ladder, but were aiming for a top-four finish.
In other matches, two goals to Connor Heffernan helped Wangaratta to a 4-2 win over Wodonga Heart, Twin City beat bottom-placed Wodonga Diamonds 4-2 and Melrose scored in the 87th minute to beat Hotspurs 1-0.
