More than 100 ideas had been submitted online to the Wangaratta Council “our say” initiative since its launch on June 1.
The engagement will be presented to new Rural City of Wangaratta councillors after the October elections, to spark their thoughts about planning ideas for their term.
The most popular idea, with 69 likes, came from Wangaratta Youth Council member Darby Fullerton.
“Structural integrity for the majority of the streets and buildings within the CBD and surrounding areas,” he said.
The council was also taking submissions for its proposed economic development and tourism strategy.
Council hopeful Harry Bussell criticised the organisation for only having a plan from 2016 to 2018, rather than 10 or 20 years.
“I think it is remiss of the plan and of the RCoW not to have a plan around attracting international tourism,” he said.
“The biggest barriers to this is the poor public transport system servicing the region and the lack of a commercial airport.”
