Guitarist Daniel Edwards told The Border Mail their album is due to be released on August 27.
“It’s big, groovy, heavy, slammin’ rock n roll,” he says.
Idle Fret recorded in Melbourne with producer Ricki Rae, who worked as a sound engineer on reality music TV series X-Factor.
“He knew what the essentials and non-essentials were,” Edwards says.
“He brought different harmony and structure ideas – it improved the craft of the songs.”
The band also recently recruited 17-year-old Shaun Webb on guitar and bassist James McRorie, who toured internationally with fellow Albury band ViperLove.
The resulting sound is something similar to 1960s and 70s groove rock, heavily influenced by Lenny Kravitz, Aerosmith and AC/DC.
Edwards says they are excited about bringing these new tracks to their hometown. “Performing in Albury – that’s all our friends, family and followers,” he says. “We love putting on the best show: lots of energy, big guitar amps, big stage sound.”
