The deadline for an additional community poll as part of local government elections is July 14 with the June 28 council meeting the last opportunity to press ahead.
Former mayor Kevin Mack is pushing for the poll on future pools requirements.
Seven options are presently under consideration with an indoor pool complex at Lauren Jackson and retention of the Albury Swim Centre estimated to cost $46 million.
"I expect the poll idea to get up, but who knows," Cr Mack said.
"I just want to know whether Albury ratepayers want us to spend money on an aquatic centre.
I just want to know whether Albury ratepayers want us to spend money on an aquatic centre. We're told the response to the phone survey was 86 per cent 'yes', so we can test that.

"We're told the response to the phone survey was 86 per cent 'yes', so we can test that."
Cr Mack said construction of a new pool complex was at least a decade away, but the process was underway.
He wants the incoming council to be provided with a "clear understanding" on its priority within the community.
"It is not going to happen for 10 years," he said.
"We've done the master plan, we've done the feasibility study.
"The next four years will be spent trying to fund it, but the community has to say they want it so we can spend the energy on it.
"We're just looking for some guidance."
Ratepayers will be required to contribute $26 million to the indoor pool complex and retain Albury Swim Centre, which is the favoured option of consultancy firm, SGL.
The option of an indoor pool and closing Lavington and Albury will cost up to $36 million with ratepayers forced to stump up $16 million.
The most expensive option costing up to $56 million is building an indoor pool and keeping Albury and Lavington swim centres open.
The cost to retain and refurbish the two existing outdoor pools is $20 million.
