ALBURY Racing Club's board of directors is facing its biggest revamp in more than a century as part of a $1.2 million track renovation to start mid-August.

The club's existing board of 12 will be reduced to 10, but four members of the new board will be independently appointed by a three-member panel which will include a Racing NSW representative.
The club has started advertising for the independent board members who will be appointed on two-year terms with backgrounds in law, commerce, construction, marketing, event management or other skills Racing NSW considers appropriate.
Long-serving club president David Wallace said the club had to embrace the changes.
"We are just doing what we've been instructed to do," he said.
"I haven't thought too much about my position because we are just trying to get the process right and go from there."
The club has called a special general meeting on July 14 when the six member-elected directors of the board will be announced.
The track upgrade will include major civil works on the back straight followed by irrigation and drainage improvements to the entire track.
Works are slated to start after a meeting on August 19 with the track to be out of action until early next year.
The club remains confident the Albury Gold Cup meeting will go ahead as scheduled in March next year.
Albury has lost two recent meetings to wet weather.
The city's leading trainer Brett Cavanough has relocated 16 horses to Toowoomba in Queensland, but is still pre-training horses at his Albury base.
His medium-term plan is to relocate to Scone.
