A shambolic situation
THE parking situation at Albury Base Hospital is a shambles.

On most days there are no spaces available whatever the hour. While it is appreciated that staff, given the range of hours they work, have the right to park in a secure environment, the lack of room for family or friends of patients is of concern.
Vehicles are found taking advantage of traffic islands, on grass verges and squeezed into whatever inappropriate spaces are able to contain them.
Vehicles line the roadway at the entrance to the hospital creating a dangerous situation for cars exiting side streets. All of this is worsened by the activities at the cancer centre construction site.
The new centre when opened will I have parking, but there will need to be room there again for staff and visitors, so the situation in the main car park will hardly be lessened.
The situation has worsened in the 12 months since I had occasion to be a constant visitor. What solutions are envisaged to rectify or ameliorate the situation, hopefully in the shorter rather than the longer term? It's a disgrace.

Tea was a great affair
NANCY Lois and Mila are pleased to announce the proceeds from their Biggest Morning Teas to raise funds for the Cancer Council, which they hosted over the last few weeks, raised $1150.00.
A big thank you to Wodonga Hospital Theatre staff, staff from DPU, and family and friends who all contributed to our fund raising event.

Forgotten issues
I would like to mention that we seem to have heard very little from any party in this election concerning aged care.
Considering the huge cutback to aged care facilities it is amazing that something has not been mentioned.
Also our first people, Indigenous Australians have also been similarly forgotten about this election.
What about our doctors, nurses, ambulance and police as well as hospital staff featuring a little.
Rural cities like Wodonga and Albury seem to be left out in the cold.
Not everyone has access or is familiar with Facebook, Twitter or any such-like media.

Dedication a drawcard
I AM somewhat bemused at the continuing challenges to Cathy McGowan to say which party she would align with in a hung parliament.
Repeatedly, Cathy refuses to play this game, reaffirming she is independent and votes for Indi and not at the behest of a part whip. Her voting on serious matters bears this out as against the misleading figures quoted against her which include the procedural votes which the parties play with.
Surely we should be asking the major parties what “bribes” they have budgeted for should a tied vote occur. The previous hung parliament was captured by Labor by ceding power to the Greens and buying the two independents with local projects at the expense of more needy electorates. What price integrity?
I also wonder at the negativity and insecurity of the two majors in assuming a tied vote. If they are so doubtful of their own value and proposals they are aiming for a draw rather than a win – why vote for them? I would rather back, in any contest, those who are ‘in it to win it’ and not just playing for a draw.
I will be voting for Cathy because she has family connections to Indi that are wide and deep. She is honest, hardworking and dedicated to Indi 100 per cent.
