At 36 he has the energy to cover a large and diverse electorate. He has a loyal wife and family, is part of a substantial family business with an agricultural base, so can understand and represent the needs of other young families, and back policies that meet the needs of the majority of Indi people.
He will become part of a National Party team dedicated to the needs of country people in a Coalition government.
Politics is a team game, and it is not for the faint-hearted, and Marty has shown the ability to stand up in to pressure with dignity and courtesy.
He will be a member of a team led by Barnaby Joyce, arguably the best grass roots politician in Canberra. Can Marty win Indi?
Yes he can and he would do a great job for the people of Indi.

If pensioners will pay
I HAVE read with interest in The Border Mail (23/6), the article "Jindera fed up with rates".
It is all very well to protest about this but have the complainants looked at the reasoning behind it? I don't think so. Greater Hume did not have to merge with anyone else because they have proved they can stand alone and do it well.
By standing alone, they have to increase rates. We are pensioners and will willingly pay the extra $75 a year, if that is what it is, in order to remain outside Albury Council's control.
To merge with Albury would be total annihilation of a great shire council, we would be forgotten. Other reasons that rates have to rise is that Albury, in all mergers, has picked the profitable areas out of our shire.
Also, the state is not passing on the funds to council, which they should have, this was announced several days ago. Are Mr White and Ms Anderson aware that Greater Hume Shire residents voted against a merger with Albury some time ago?
Please don't try to inflict Albury Council and its wasteful spending on us, our rates would probably go even higher.
If it's newcomers to Jindera who want to merge with Albury, I suggest you made a mistake in moving to our lovely town. Please don't try to inflict your misguided ideas onto our townsfolk.
Over the years we have found Greater Hume to be very approachable, they listen to the people, they are doing great things for their communities.
Be grateful that you are lucky enough to have such a council. If pensioners are happy to pay the rate rise for the good of the community, you should too.
B MCGRATH, Jindera
Russian athletes in Rio
CAN someone please tell me how “clean” Russian athletes can participate in the Rio Olympic games for another country?
I realise multicultural athletes represent Australia in several sports but they have to live here for a certain number of years before doing so. Don't all athletes or any other person have to be resident in another country for a certain time before claiming citizenship? I am stumped.
