Troublemakers tore four poles from the frisbee golf course at HP Barr Reserve between Thursday night and Friday morning.
Two of them were later used to pierce a green at the nearby bowls club.
Despite the vandalism, the course, which was only unveiled last week, was repaired to allow the Wangaratta Ultimate Frisbee Association host its first disc golf contest on Saturday.
Wangaratta council’s director community wellbeing Jaime Carroll expressed frustration at the attack.
“We’re so disappointed this has been targeted,” Ms Carroll said.
“The course was built as part of a project to give people fun alternatives to traditional sports.
“Already we’ve got a group of young people using the course and running events and we’re so disappointed for them that this has occurred.”
Police have been notified about the vandalism.
