The man was dropped at Dartmouth Boat ramp about 9am and was the second hunter to go missing in the North East at the weekend.
Police, SES and search and rescue crews were deployed and the man was found about 5.30pm.
Police said people should ensure they have a way of contacting others when going out into bushland.
