The Kelli Moylan-coached team enjoyed wins against Waverley (19-3), Victoria University (12-8) and Hampden (16-6) but losses to Bendigo (17-8), Geelong (18-10) and Alberton (12-6) meant it finished fourth and failed to progress from the qualifying stages of pool A.
In a sign of the strength of the Ovens and Murray’s pool, Geelong and Bendigo ended up playing in the grand final with the team from Corio Bay taking the chocolates.
Corowa-Rutherglen’s Sophie Hanrahan and Yarrawonga’s Bridget Cassar performed strongly in attack over the six matches at the State Netball Hockey Centre in Parkville.
Lavington’s Sarah Meredith combined well with Pigeon Hannah Symes in defence while Yarrawonga duo Laura Bourke and Laura Davis formed a strong partnership in the mid-court.
