In just 10 minutes Werribee FC had taken a 2-0 lead over the visitors, leaving United with a mountain to climb to get back into the game.
But they worked their way back into the game, even holding some momentum heading into the half time break.
They couldn’t maintain it though, as Werribee found the back of the net a third time just 30 seconds into the half.
As they had in the first half, United worked their way back into the game, but they were held to their fourth clean sheet in as many weeks.
On a brighter note for the club, new central defender Mark Flintoft played his first game for the club after signing on the final day of the transfer window last week.
Flintoft’s clearance from Spanish Tercera División Group 6 club FC Jove Español San Vicente was approved late on Friday.
