Taiwanese woman Yuping Tsai, 30, died when her car travelled onto the wrong side of the Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road about 3.15pm on Saturday.
Her silver Toyota Camry smashed head-on into a black Ford Territory and Ms Tsai, also known as Cathy, died at the scene.
She had been in the country on a work visa for about six months and had been working at Howlong-based offal processor Cool Off.
Police have spoken to several people who witnessed the crash and are keen to speak to anyone else who saw the smash.
The black Ford Territory, which had three people on board, did not appear to be at fault.
Myrtleford Football Club player Lachlan Kirk was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital and his father Tony was taken to Albury hospital.
Mr Kirk's teammate Luke Waters was also taken to Albury hospital.
Wangaratta Senior Constable Colin Boyle said both vehicles would undergo mechanical inspections as police prepared a report for the coroner.
“It's once again a timely reminder to take care on our roads,” he said.
