The long-time Albury criminal only got out of jail on March 9 after serving four months for carrying a prohibited knife.
And yet two months later he was arrested by police after being found in possession of knuckledusters.
Magistrate Tony Murray asked Foley in Albury Local Court on Tuesday just why he would do such a thing.
“I have no idea your honour. It was very, very stupid,” he replied.
Foley, 33, of Thurgoona Street, pleaded guilty to a single charge of possess or use a prohibited weapon without a permit.
Mr Murray gave him a chance to avoid yet another jail term – he has several on his record for various offences – by undergoing a pre-sentence report.
He was told in facts put before the court how Foley’s offending was uncovered when police were responding to an unrelated incident also in Lavington on May 2 about 7.30pm.
They approached the intersection of Prune Street and Douglas Road when they saw a sedan do two laps of the roundabout.
Because they were responding to an urgent incident, they did not immediately stop the car.
That happened only after they were called off the other job.
Checks on the driver found he was a known drug user, but they found nothing when he was searched
They then checked on the passenger, Foley, and discovered he was a known cannabis user.
When they searched him they found the red, plastic knuckledusters shoved down the front of Foley’s shorts.
Foley will now face sentence in Albury court on July 28.
