Boomers, Albury City and Wodonga Diamonds top the table with 12 wins each, closely followed by Cobram with 11.
City boasts a one-point lead over the Boomers and Diamonds, something Hayes hopes to remedy despite a shortage of players affecting the club in the weeks gone by.
“It's pretty congested at the moment,” Hayes said.
“There's been an equalisation of player quality through the top half a dozen clubs.
“The girls seem to have a big rotation of players from one season to another, and we're no different.
“We had half dozen in and out from last season, and we only had 10 players available last week, but the girls, to their credit, played some good football last week, the standard of what they're producing isn't bad.”
Casey Lykles and Kate Doherty return for the Boomers ahead of their clash with Melrose on Sunday afternoon.
