As a play on the recent departure of Great Britain from the European Union, the mountain will host a ‘Fexit’ vote, to decide the name of a chair lift.
Marketing and communications manager Jo Prothero said a resident had brought up the history of Falls Creek inspiring the mountain referendum.
“The Falls Express Chairlift has been named as such since 2006,” she said.
“It is ridden by more visitors than any other lift at Falls Creek.
“Despite this status, there is a rising push to bring the chairlift back to its roots and officially rename it Halley’s Comet – as it was originally dubbed when built in 1986.”
Voting will run from 9:30am to 4pm Saturday at a polling booth in front of Big Red’s BBQ. The final decision will be announced at the lift, prior to the beginning of night skiing at 6pm.
