Today’s facilities are a far cry from the four-post shed the club’s foundation members built to indulge their hobby of pistol target shooting.
That hand-built shed has been replaced with a full range, and indoor air pistol shed and a clubhouse with facilities for the disabled.
The club celebrated its 50th anniversary last weekend.
“The club has really grown,” secretary Maurice Cevaal-Hewitt said.
“We were able to get a couple of the foundation members back to the club for the celebrations.
“They were very impressed with the facilities, we used to be trudging around in mud.
“It was great to see some of the older and former members mix with the newer folks.”
Two of the founding members curt a celebratory cake and mingled with other past and present members, some of whom had travelled from interstate for the occasion.
“I’m looking forward to the next 50 years,” Cevaal-Hewitt said.
Our foundation members were very impressed with our facilities. We used to be trudging around in mud.
