That was one of the key messages Rutherglen footballer Jak Hancock took from North Melbourne coach Brad Scott in a tour of the Roos’ Arden St facility.
Hancock was given the opportunity to spend time with Scott and Roos assistant Darren Crocker as part of Fox Footy’s club rewards program for the Cats’ work in raising money for breast cancer awareness, tackling domestic violence and establishing a junior female football team.
“They took us through the ‘Shinboner way’ and the values of the club,” he said.
“You get a real sense of club culture and pride – they’re always referencing the ‘Shinboner Spirit’.
“With everything (coach) Karl (Jacka) is going through, it’s directly applicable to overcoming adversity right now.”
The Cats travel to Beechworth on Saturday to take on the Bushrangers.
