Albury Inspector Scott Russell said the 24-year-old Albury rider would appear in court on Tuesday after attempting to evade police in the early hours of Saturday.
“He entered the Volt Lane car park and when police attempted to stop the male, he accelerated the motorbike, striking a police officer present,” he said.
“The police officer was lucky to escape major injury, he was struck on the front and was pushed back into a metal barrier.
“Police arrested the male after a struggle and he was taken to hospital as a precaution where he was charged with riding in a manner dangerous to the public and resisting police.”
The rider had his licence suspended upon recording a blood alcohol level of 0.141.
The policeman was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
A Lavington man, 64, will also face court in August after a breath test on Wagga Road at 1am on Sunday returned a reading of 0.174.
Drugs were also on the radar for police at the weekend as part of Operation Barb.
Across the Albury local area command, 25 licensed businesses were inspected.
Inspector Scott Russell said a 39-year-old male was charged with possessing ice after being stopped on Wagga Road for a breath test.
“A subsequent search located approximately one gram of a drug believed to be ice,” he said.
“He was charged with possession of a prohibited drug and possession of equipment to administer prohibited drug and will appear in court on September 6.”
A 23-year-old Corowa man was also charged with dangerous driving after reaching 187km/h on the Riverina Highway at Howlong.
